According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (Part of NIH): TMJ Dysfunction (TMJD) is the second most commonly occurring musculoskeletal condition resulting in pain and disability preceded only by chronic low back pain. NIH estimates that 5 to 12% of the population suffers from TMJD.

After completing this course each participant will be able to identify the major muscles involved in TM joint movement, better understand the causes of TMJ pain, and apply specific Swedish techniques to help reduce TMJ pain. This class will include intra-oral work and hands-on practice time.

(Note: This course covers introductory level TMJD work.)

WHAT TO BRING : 1 sets of sheets and blanket if you get cold. Oil or lotion suitable for work on the face.

CANCELLATION POLICY : Refund (less $50 processing fee) if cancellation received at least two weeks prior to the course start date. Cancellations less than two weeks before the course will not receive a refund.*     *Exception: Covid, RSV or flu symptoms, or other medical emergency with Doctor’s note (or for Covid – a PCR Covid test taken at a pharmacy or Doctor’s office).

MASSAGE TABLES: I will get in touch with therapists who need to bring tables a couple weeks prior to class. 

WHAT TO BRING: Non-latex gloves if you have them. 1 sets of sheets (no cradle cover needed), a blanket if you get cold, any additional bolstering you need beyond a standard bolster, oil or lotion suitable for work on the face. A pen for taking notes. Dress in loose, comfortable layers. TRIM YOUR NAILS SHORT BEFORE CLASS.

LUNCH: We will take an hour for lunch each day. There are no kitchen facilities on site. Bring lunch or plan to drive nearby.

PARKING:  You will enter the BACK parking lot off of N. 35th Street, between Coastal Dentistry and Harvell & Co. CPA. Use address: 407 N. 35th Street (CPA). Drive in past the CPA building and then curve right to go through a narrow two lane section taking you into the parking lot behind the OB/GYN building. The classroom is the detached building in the far right back corner of the lot. You can park close to drop off massage tables, but after that please move car away from the building so clients can have easy access.
